Slovak Economy to Grow by 1% This Year

Slovakia’s economy is expected to grow by 1 percent of GDP in 2026, according to the latest macroeconomic forecast published by the Finance Ministry. Growth will be driven mainly by investments from the Recovery and Resilience Plan and continued real wage growth. The ministry noted that Slovakia remains heavily dependent on developments in Germany and Austria, while trade tensions and high energy prices are slowing expansion.

Inflation for 2026 is now projected at 3.8 percent, lower than earlier estimates, with energy subsidies expected to soften its impact on households. Real wages should continue to outpace inflation slightly this year. Tax revenues are expected to rise by more than 6 percent in 2026, partly due to consolidation measures, while public spending growth will be limited by savings reforms.
