Slovakia Slips in Global Corruption Ranking

Slovakia has dropped two places in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index, ranking 61st out of 182 countries. It scored 48 out of 100, with higher scores indicating lower perceived corruption. Transparency International Slovakia says nine indicators were assessed, with the country worsening in five year on year. The result leaves Slovakia 14 points below the EU average.

Within the bloc, only Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary rank lower. Among post-communist countries, Estonia remains the strongest at 12th globally. In the Visegrad Group, Slovakia trails the Czech Republic and Poland. The index has been compiled since 1995 using data from independent international institutions.
