State Secretary Marek Eštok held political consultations in Doha with Qatar’s foreign ministry secretary general Ahmad Hassen Al-Hammadi. Talks focused on deepening political and economic cooperation and exchanging views on security developments in the Middle East, including Gaza, Yemen and Iran. Eštok highlighted Qatar’s growing role as a regional and international mediator and stressed Slovakia’s interest in closer dialogue.
Both sides discussed preparations for agreements on investment protection and the avoidance of double taxation, as well as future high-level visits. Energy cooperation was also on the agenda, with Slovakia looking at alternative sources and Qatar seen as a key exporter of liquefied natural gas. During the visit, Eštok signed a bilateral agreement abolishing visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
