Slovakia is at the very tail end of EU countries when it comes to the introduction of broadband internet connections. In 2012, a little over 75 percent of households in the country had this type of connection while in the EU about 95 percent of homes had broadband internet, says data of the the EC digital agenda.
However, the plan is to broaden the coverage with Broadband internet, announces the Pravda daily. As many as 58 small municipalities in particular in central Slovakia plan to introduce broadband internet. To get a broadband connection, individual villages would have to pay some €150,000 for infrastructure each, which would be almost €9 million altogether.
