Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár said the situation in Ukraine caused by Russian strikes on energy infrastructure is unacceptable, following an EU meeting in Brussels. He stressed that targeted attacks during freezing temperatures are deepening the humanitarian crisis and said Slovakia has formally protested to Russia while continuing to support Ukrainian civilians. Blanár highlighted Slovakia’s assistance, including increased electricity supplies and the delivery of power generators to affected regions. EU ministers also discussed security guarantees and Ukraine’s future, with Slovakia reaffirming its support for Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union under standard accession rules.
