Slovak Parliament has approved a new Code of Ethics for MPs together with amendments to its rules of procedure. The code sets standards of conduct, requiring MPs to act in the public interest, behave respectfully, and avoid personal insults, vulgar language, or statements that undermine human dignity. Lawmakers are also prohibited from using information obtained through their mandate for personal or financial gain and are expected to support transparency, openness, and responsible handling of public funds. The document introduces rules on formal dress during parliamentary sessions and outlines the role of presiding officers in ensuring fair and respectful debates. Violations of the code will be subject to disciplinary measures under parliamentary rules.
