The Secretary for Relations with States and International Organizations of the Holy See, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher, will pay an official visit to Slovakia from Friday to Sunday February 1. He will arrive at the invitation of Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár.
Gallagher’s visit marks the 25th anniversary of the entry into force of the basic treaty between Slovakia and the Holy See, which took effect in 2001. According to the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia, the visit is among others an impulse for further dialogue between the Church, the state, and society in Slovakia.
The programme includes official meetings with state representatives, meetings with bishops who are members of the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia, as well as spiritual events, including the celebration of a Holy Mass. A key part of the visit will be Gallagher’s participation in an international expert symposium to be held on Saturday (January 31) at Comenius University in Bratislava.
