Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár has condemned Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities and expressed solidarity with civilians affected during winter. He said Slovakia will protest the violations of international humanitarian law to the Russian embassy and has increased emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine, also providing funds for power generators. He added that Slovakia has significantly increased emergency electricity supplies to Ukraine this January as, according to Ukrainian authorities, more than 1.2 million people have been left without electricity, while around 6,000 buildings in Kyiv remain without heating.
