Palestinian students studying at Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica, together with Palestinian Ambassador Safa al-Khaldi, met Foreign and European Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar and thanked him for Slovakia's humanitarian activity that has enabled them to come to the country and study.
The Slovak government has granted the students scholarships.
According to Blanar, providing education to young people from conflict-affected regions represents an investment in the future of their country. "I believe that the knowledge and experience the students gain in our homeland will be used to help their communities and to support a peaceful, democratic and stable Palestine," he said.
The Minister also recalled that Slovakia is among the countries that have recognised the State of Palestine and that the country considers a two-state solution to be the way out of the conflict between Israel and Hamas. He added that Slovakia is sending humanitarian aid and carrying out medical evacuations.
