American President Donald Trump received Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach.
Fico stated the visit was held in an informal spirit, which he described as a sign of respect and trust. The meeting was also attended by the US and Slovak foreign ministers, Marco Rubio and Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD), respectively.
According to the Prime Minister, he and Trump shared the same view of the European Union as an “institution undergoing a deep crisis.”
The meeting took place a few hours after Donald Trump stated on the Truth Social network that he planned to impose a 10% tariff on Denmark and eight other EU countries that had sent military personnel to Greenland. This came after Trump continued to press his claim to the island, which is a semi-autonomous part of Denmark.
