Foreign Ministry Warns Citizens against Travel to Iran amid Violent Protests

Slovak Foreign Ministry is warning Slovak citizens against travelling to Iran and is urging those currently in the country to leave as soon as possible. The ministry says Iran has seen widespread protests since late December 2025, with demonstrators calling for economic and political reforms in cities, towns and rural areas alike.

According to the ministry, the protests are often violent and involve a heavy presence of police and security forces, with recent clashes resulting in deaths and injuries among both protesters and security personnel. Slovak citizens who remain in Iran are advised to closely monitor news and social media, avoid demonstrations and large gatherings—especially at night—and refrain from photographing security forces, government or military buildings.
