Ice Sculptors Return to the High Tatras for Tatry Ice Master Championship

The mountain resort of Hrebienok in the High Tatras will host the 12th edition of the international ice sculpture championship Tatry Ice Master on January 17 and 18. Artists from ten countries will create 35 unique ice sculptures using around 50 tonnes of ice, according to the organisers. The event will traditionally begin with a special prologue on January 16, when an ice sculpture will be carved directly on Lomnický štít, this time by a team from Iraq with an Olympic theme. Sculptures created on Hrebienok will be illuminated after dark and displayed near the cable car station and next to the Tatra Ice Dome. Part of the ice gallery will remain open until the end of the winter season, while outdoor sculptures will last as long as weather conditions allow.
