Slovakia and China have held the first meeting of their Intergovernmental Committee for Strategic Partnership in Bratislava. The talks took place during a visit by a Chinese delegation led by Vice Foreign Minister Hua Chunying. The meeting was opened by Prime Minister Robert Fico (SMER-SD), with Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (SMER-SD) and representatives of several ministries attending.
Blanár said Slovakia is seeking a pragmatic and predictable relationship with China, focused on concrete results. China remains Slovakia’s largest trading partner in Asia, with annual trade exceeding ten billion euros. Both sides agreed on follow-up steps to 13 agreements signed last November in Beijing, covering the economy, innovation, education, healthcare and culture.
