School principals are reporting positive results from the ban on mobile phones in schools, introduced at the start of last year. Education Minister Tomáš Drucker (HLAS-SD) says students are talking more during breaks, school communities feel more connected, and teachers find it easier to work.
The ministry plans to work with the OECD to measure the impact after one year, using international methods for comparison. Drucker also supports tighter regulation of social media, calling it increasingly disruptive for children.
Opposition parties agree regulation is needed but differ on how far it should go, with some warning that a total ban is hard to enforce. The Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatization is considering setting a minimum age of 16 for access to online platforms.
