More than half of people in Slovakia expect their financial situation to worsen this year, according to a representative survey conducted by Ipsos for Home Credit Slovakia. The poll of 1,000 respondents shows that 53 percent anticipate a decline in their finances, while 35 percent expect no change and only 11 percent believe their situation will improve.
Rising living costs are a major concern, with eight out of ten respondents expecting higher expenses than last year. Most households estimate their monthly costs will increase by between 50 and 200 euros, mainly due to higher food prices, energy costs and overall inflation.
Younger people aged 27 to 35 are the most optimistic, while households with the lowest incomes, people with vocational education and those aged 45 to 53 most often expect a significant deterioration. According to Home Credit analyst, concerns about food prices are strongest among lower-income earners, while fears of rising energy prices are most common among older respondents.
