Slovak police will strengthen security nationwide on New Year’s Eve, with extra patrols on the streets and more checks on drivers. Officers from public order, traffic and criminal units will focus on preventing conflicts, maintaining public order and keeping traffic moving smoothly. Police are also warning against injuries caused by fireworks, especially when combined with alcohol, and urge parents to supervise children closely. Drivers are reminded that alcohol and drug checks will be intensified. Police stress that despite the celebrations, laws still apply and responsible behaviour remains essential.
