Slovak Armed Forces artillery units will fire 21 ceremonial salutes on New Year’s Day in Bratislava to mark the anniversary of the founding of the Slovak Republic. The traditional salute will take place at 2 p.m. from the Danube riverbank near the city’s exhibition grounds, using 122-millimetre howitzers. The event will be carried out by soldiers of the 5th Artillery Regiment. Weather permitting a military band concert will accompany the ceremony. The army urges the public to follow safety instructions and stay within designated areas.
