Slovakia Posted Trade Surplus of More than €560 million in October

Slovakia's foreign trade balance posted a surplus of €560.2 million in October 2025, up by €240.5 million year-on-year (y-o-y), with exports surpassing the €10-billion mark for the first time in a year, while imports came close to that level, the Statistics Office reported on Tuesday.

According to preliminary figures, Slovakia exported goods worth €10.5 billion, down 0.4 percent y-o-y, with imports dropping by 2.7 percent to €9.9 billion. The trade balance has been in a surplus for six months in a row and is at its highest level since June 2024.

The most frequently traded category, machinery and transport equipment, accounted for more than 61 percent of total exports and had a 48-percent share of total imports.

More than 79 percent of Slovakia's exports in October went to EU-member states, up by almost 2 percent y-o-y. Imports from the EU stood at 63 percent, down 2 percent. Exports to non-EU countries fell by 8 percent y-o-y, while imports from these countries shrank by 4 percent.

Slovakia thus recorded a surplus of more than €2 billion in trade with EU countries, but a deficit of almost €1.5 billion in trade with non-EU countries.

In the first ten months of 2025, exports rose by 3 percent y-o-y to €92 billion, while imports increased by 4.1 percent to €89.7 billion. The trade surplus stood at €2.3 billion, compared to a surplus of €3.1 billion in the same period of 2024.
