President to Receive Bethlehem Light from Scouts

President Peter Pellegrini will receive the Bethlehem Light from Slovak scouts on Tuesday. The ceremony at the Presidential Palace will be one of the first official arrivals of the flame from Bethlehem in Slovakia. Scouts say the light will then continue its journey across the country and beyond.

On 14 December, Slovak scouts will take it to Uzhhorod, where Ukrainian scouts will accept it. And on 20 December, scout teams will spread the light by train to more than Slovak 300 towns and villages, including places without rail connections. The Bethlehem Light has been shared in Slovakia for 36 years. Scouts call it a symbol of peace, hope and solidarity.
