Parliament resumed its session on Monday by continuing debate on the bill to transform the Whistleblowers Protection Office (UOO) into a new institution. Around 20 MPs were registered to speak at the start of the session, with additional lawmakers able to join the discussion verbally. The bill is being debated in its second reading under a fast-tracked legislative procedure.
At 2 p.m., MPs were scheduled to move on to a proposal concerning the reform of social services financing. No votes are planned for Monday, and debate is expected to continue until 8 p.m.
The governing coalition can remain stable only by returning to the commitments outlined in the government manifesto, addressing the real problems people face, and avoiding internal disputes. President Peter Pellegrini made this statement during the main Saturday political debate on national public Slovak Radio. He also acknowledged that, after reviewing it, he may return the draft law on transforming the Whistleblowers Protection Office to Parliament for further consideration. According to the president, the European Union still has reservations about the bill.
