Slovak Parliamentary Speaker Richard Raši (HLAS-SD) met with his Czech and Austrian counterparts in Bratislava under the Slavkov (S3) format, which Slovakia currently chairs. Marking the format’s 10th anniversary, the speakers focused on strengthening cooperation and addressing Europe’s declining competitiveness.
They agreed that S3 remains an effective platform rooted in close geography and shared history. Raši proposed renewing joint meetings of parliamentary presidiums to exchange best practices. The leaders also discussed ways to involve young people, such as youth-parliament cooperation and internship programmes.
The future of the Visegrad Four (V4) also surfaced, with Raši expressing Slovakia’s interest in reviving the group—especially on energy policy and the EU’s emissions scheme ETS2.
Talks covered cross-border infrastructure, high energy prices, pressure on the automotive industry, and the planned 2035 end of combustion engines. Migration and border protection were also key topics, with Raši stressing the need for coordinated European policies.
