The Regional Court in Bratislava granted the motion of the Minister of Culture Martina Šimkovičová (nom. SNS). The former director of the Slovak National Theatre (SND) Matej Drlička must refrain from making statements about her. Drlička himself announced the court's decision on social media.
"The Regional Court in Bratislava will shut me down on December 6th. I, Matej Drlička, a citizen of the Slovak Republic, will in fact not be able to even say the name of the Minister of Culture in public," he wrote.
The Bratislava Regional Court granted the minister's motion to order an urgent measure after the Bratislava IV Municipal Court rejected this motion twice.
The Regional Court ordered Drlička “to refrain from making statements about the plaintiff in public. In particular, in print media, in electronic media, including their blogs, and on social networks by publishing false and evaluative statements, judgments, and opinions, and to refrain from further interfering with the plaintiff’s good reputation through any other form of public statements or other means.”
The decision will enter into force on December 6, 2025. The former director of the Slovak National Theatre wrote that he submits to the decision of the Regional Court in Bratislava, but as a responsible and committed citizen, he cannot respect it. He also announced that he would take all legal steps to reverse it.
