Parliament failed for the fourth time to open a special session on dismissing Transport Minister Jozef Ráž (SMER-SD nominee). The no-confidence vote, initiated by opposition parties after recent rail accidents, will now be moved to the next parliamentary session.
Meanwhile, MPs are debating a bill to transform the Office for the Protection of Whistleblowers. The Council of Europe’s rapporteur Anna-Kristiina Mikkonen has voiced concern over the proposed changes. Critics say the government wants to replace the office’s leadership and weaken its independence, while the coalition argues the reform is part of cost-cutting. A vote on the bill’s next stage is expected on Tuesday evening.
