Slovak President Peter Pellegrini has received his first state decoration since taking office. During his visit to Portugal, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa awarded him the Grand Collar of the Order of Prince Henry, the country’s highest class of this honour. Pellegrini reciprocated with Slovakia’s Order of the White Double Cross, First Class.
Both leaders said their countries have strong relations but see room to deepen cooperation, especially in defence and the economy. Pellegrini welcomed Portugal’s decision to increase its troops in Slovakia as part of NATO’s multinational battlegroup.
The visit, Slovakia’s first to Portugal in 20 years, also includes meetings with top officials, the Honorary Key to Lisbon, and participation in a Slovak-Portuguese business forum focused on expanding trade and joint innovation.
