Slovakia will support US President Donald Trump's peace plan for Ukraine and call on its European partners for maximum cooperation in this process, with Foreign Affairs Minister Juraj Blanar (Smer-SD) tasking State Secretary Marek Eštok to deliver this message at an online meeting of EU representatives due to take place at noon on Wednesday.
At the same time, the state secretary will "emphasise that peace negotiations must be held with the participation of all parties in the conflict, exactly as is currently happening under the leadership of Donald Trump, as only through mutual dialogue and the seeking of compromises can peace be achieved and the senseless killing stopped," stated the ministry.
The US peace plan for Ukraine was presented last week, but it has undergone extensive revisions following negotiations between the USA and Ukrainian delegations in Geneva.
Ukraine on Tuesday (25 November) agreed to the main points of the US peace plan, but key issues related to territorial concessions are yet to be discussed by Presidents Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff is due to negotiate the remaining bones of contention in the peace plan in Moscow next week.
