Slovakia’s football team suffered a record 6–0 defeat to Germany in Leipzig on Monday, but still secured a place in the playoffs for the 2026 World Cup. Germany, four-time world champions, topped Group A with 15 points and qualified directly. Despite the heavy loss — Slovakia’s worst ever in qualifying — Francesco Calzona’s side finished second with 12 points. They’ll fight for a World Cup berth in March, along with third-placed Northern Ireland.
