Slovakia has opened its own National Chip Competence Centre, part of a European initiative linking government, academia, research institutions and the semiconductor industry. The center was launched at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, with senior officials from the education and economy ministries in attendance. Its goal is to build a strong and competitive ecosystem for the Slovak semiconductor sector, focusing on advanced chip packaging and power modules while ensuring regional balance. Centre director Michal Mičjan said it aims to support industry development by promoting education, business growth and access to European infrastructure.
