Controversy over PM Adviser Lajčák and Government Transparency

Slovakia’s SNS party is calling on Prime Minister Robert Fico to end cooperation with adviser Miroslav Lajčák over past communications with U.S. financier and convicted felon Jeffrey Epstein. Lajčák said the interactions were purely social and part of his diplomatic duties, condemning Epstein’s crimes. Smer-SD MEP Erik Kaliňák defended him, saying no ethical or criminal wrongdoing occurred and attributing the criticism to political disputes. Opposition MP Zuzana Mesterová demanded Lajčák publicly explain the case and highlighted broader concerns over government tenders and law enforcement.
