Former Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák may have directly communicated with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, according to 20,000 pages of documents released by the U.S. House of Representatives Oversight Committee. Emails analyzed by SME daily suggest correspondence between Lajčák and Epstein, including a friendly exchange on the 24th of March, 2018, where Epstein shared an article about Donald Trump’s mental health, and Lajčák responded. A March 15, 2018 email between Epstein and Steve Bannon also mentions Lajčák amid political turmoil in Slovakia, though it does not confirm Lajčák attended the discussed dinner. Epstein, investigated since 2005 for sexual abuse and trafficking of minors, was arrested in July 2019 and died in August 2019 in New York, ruled a suicide. Lajčák has not commented on the documents.
