The investigation into the donation of military equipment to Ukraine did not find any damage to the Slovak Republic, nor that members of the government acted with the intent to gain unlawful benefit or exceeded their powers. The police have stopped the criminal proceedings, stating that the act does not constitute a crime. This was confirmed by Gabriela Kováčová, spokesperson for the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The Police Presidium stated that the investigative team “Darca” is still active in two criminal cases.
“On October 30, 2025, the investigator of the Police Corps stopped the criminal proceedings conducted under suspicion of committing the crime of violating obligations in the administration of another’s property in concurrence with the crime of abuse of power by a public official, on the grounds that it is sufficiently justified that this act is not a criminal offense and there is no reason to forward the case,” Kováčová said, adding that the investigator’s decision is not yet final.
The Communication and Prevention Department of the Police Presidium stated that two of the five cases were dismissed because they did not constitute a criminal act. In one case, the investigation was stopped because it was proven that the act was not a crime.
“Two cases are still in the preparatory stage; investigation and evidence-gathering are ongoing, and no charges have been filed in these matters. These ongoing cases are in the pre-trial phase, and due to their confidential nature, the police cannot provide further information at this time so as not to jeopardize the purpose of the criminal proceedings,” the police said.
In November 2024, the Office for Combating Organized Crime (ÚBOK) established a special investigative team called “Darca.” Its creation was prompted by a report from the Supreme Audit Office. The team’s task is to investigate suspected illegal activities related to the donation of Slovak military equipment worth hundreds of millions of euros to Ukraine during the previous electoral term. The investigation targets former officials of the Ministry of Defense and government members. In June, ÚBOK carried out several seizure operations involving persons and property.
