Greenpeace Slovakia activists blocked the main entrance of the Environment Ministry in Bratislava on Monday morning, saying their goal was to “give nature at least one day of rest from the ministry’s destructive actions.”
Environment Minister Tomáš Taraba (SNS nominee) announced he would file criminal complaints, claiming about ten activists prevented employees from entering and leaving the building. “Eco-fanatics think laws don’t apply to them,” he said, adding that police were called to the scene.
Greenpeace accused Taraba and his team of destroying Slovakia’s natural heritage, blocking renewable energy development, and showing “zero professional competence.” They said the minister behaves more like an economy minister and has turned Slovakia into a symbol of environmental failure abroad.
