President Accepts Poland's Offer to Import Gas From the US

President Peter Pellegrini says Poland’s offer to deliver U.S. gas through its terminals to Slovakia could strengthen energy security and reduce dependence on Russia. After meeting Polish President Karol Nawrocki in Bratislava, Pellegrini said the plan would help diversify Slovakia’s gas supplies if prices remain fair. Nawrocki added that Poland is ready to act as a regional energy hub thanks to its LNG terminals.

“I welcome the President’s offer and the Polish government’s efforts, which will allow Poland to become a significant alternative source of gas imports to Slovakia through the interconnection of our gas systems,” Pellegrini said. “This is a unique opportunity for us to further diversify our energy imports — provided the price and transit fees remain reasonable.”
