Foreign Workers Becoming a Stable Part of Slovakia’s Job Market

Foreigners are no longer just temporary labor for Slovak companies but a stable part of the workforce, say experts from the recruitment agencies Grafton Recruitmentand GiGroup. In September, over 135,000 foreigners were employed in Slovakia—nearly seven percent of the labor force. Most work in industry, logistics, and services, with a growing share in skilled professions. About two-thirds come from non-EU countries, led by Ukrainians, followed by Serbs, Indians, Czechs, and Romanians. The number of Indian workers has tripled this year.

Experts warn that Slovakia’s labor shortages, aging population, and low birth rate will make foreign recruitment increasingly vital. Better digitalization, simpler permits, and stronger adaptation programs will be key to integrating these workers and maintaining stable, productive teams.
