President Peter Pellegrini attended the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. He said education is the heart of peace and the key to resolving conflicts without violence. It teaches not only knowledge but also values such as respect, tolerance and empathy. Slovakia supports UNESCO’s Education for Peace initiative and will host the Global Forum on Education and Artificial Intelligence in Bratislava later this November. The president urged nations to invest in education as the best defense against hatred and conflict. He also highlighted Slovakia’s cultural heritage protected under UNESCO, including the fujara, as a symbol of national identity and creativity. Pellegrini added that safeguarding cultural and natural heritage is a moral duty to the past and a gift for future generations.
