Spirit of Inclusion Shines at Special Olympics in Prešov

The first-ever European Special Olympics Figure Skating Championships officially opened on Thursday with a festive ceremony in Prešov. The competition, taking place on Friday at the city’s ice arena, brings together 34 skaters with intellectual disabilities and their unified partners from eight European countries. According to Katarína Droppová from Special Olympics Slovakia, the event celebrates not only athletic performance but also courage, joy, and the power of inclusion. The program features solo, pairs, and unified pairs in short and free skate routines. Prešov, named the European City of Sport 2025, is hosting the event under its patronage.
