Slovakia’s government approved a new package of regional support measures during its off-site meeting in Višňové. The plan includes projects in the Žilina and Bytča districts, among them the village of Čičmany — a symbol of Slovak folk creativity and traditional architecture. After the meeting, Culture Minister Martina Šimkovičová (SNS) visited Čičmany, where she met the local mayor to discuss the preservation and development of cultural heritage. The government also tasked the ministry with exploring the inscription of the Čičmany patterns on both the Slovak and UNESCO intangible heritage lists, and with preparing a system for managing entry fees to the protected village area. Čičmany’s geometric ornaments remain a lasting part of Slovakia’s folk identity and a testament to the value of preserving traditional culture.
