Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár (Smer-SD) says the Cleveland Agreement reminds us of the importance of understanding and compromise. Speaking at an event marking 110 years since its signing, he called it a symbol of courage and unity among Slovaks and Czechs who believed in freedom even far from home. Blanár added that Slovaks abroad still help promote the country’s good name and that cooperation with them remains vital. The 1915 Cleveland Agreement was the first joint declaration of Slovaks and Czechs abroad supporting an independent federative state.
