Slovak Foreign Minister Welcomes Gaza Truce

Slovak Foreign Minister Juraj Blanár has welcomed the newly signed ceasefire agreement in Gaza, as well as the release of 20 Israeli hostages and the return of the bodies of four others. The deal, signed on Monday in Egypt’s Sharm el-Sheikh by representatives of the US, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey, is seen by Blanár as an important step toward implementing US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for the region. However, he expressed concern over statements from Hamas refusing to lay down arms. Blanár reaffirmed Slovakia’s support for Egypt’s and Qatar’s efforts to secure a full disarmament and for the two-state solution, adding that Slovakia will continue its humanitarian and diplomatic support to help bring lasting peace to the region.
