President Peter Pellegrini said on Sunday during discussion on private TV TA3 that he is ready to sign next year’s draft state budget, provided it is not significantly altered.
He praised the government for maintaining education and healthcare funding despite the challenging economic situation. Pellegrini also welcomed the decision to keep social benefits like the 13th pensions intact amid efforts to consolidate public finances.
However, he expressed concern that the consolidation process made it appear as though the government had alienated all its social partners, which he described as unfortunate.
