Slovakia is set to send a new package of military assistance to Ukraine, including engineering support and help with demining operations. The announcement was made by Defence Minister Robert Kaliňák of the Smer party during an international defence industry forum in Kyiv.
Kaliňák said that he and Ukrainian Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal have signed a memorandum covering Slovakia’s 14th aid package. Under the agreement, Slovakia will deliver five Božena demining machines, along with other military and non-military equipment.
Since Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Slovakia has provided Ukraine with 13 aid packages worth a total of €671 million. The new package—valued at €40.3 million—was initially rejected by the Fico government in November 2023.
