Charges Dropped Against Former NAKA Officers

A prosecutor from the Bratislava Regional Prosecutor’s Office has dropped charges of abuse of power and obstruction of justice against former National Crime Agency officers Branislav Dunčko and Robert Magula, members of the so-called “Čurilla group.” Their lawyer, Peter Kubina, said the prosecutor’s decision is final.

According to the ruling, claims that the officers lied to judges were merely assumptions made by an investigator from the Internal Affairs Inspectorate’s Veritas team, and were not supported by the case file. “The requests for wiretap approval met all legal requirements, and their content was based on the relevant documentation. This was neither an abuse of power nor obstruction of justice,” Kubina explained.

The charges, filed in June, alleged that the officers had sought wiretaps in 2019 using false information.
