Two More F-16 Fighter Jets Land in Slovakia

Two more F-16 fighters for the Slovak armed forces landed at the Kuchyňa airbase near Malacky (Bratislava region) on Thursday evening, The Defence Ministry's communications department informed TASR, adding that Slovakia now has seven of the 14 aircraft ordered at its disposal.

According to the ministry, the delivery includes F-16 Block 70 aircraft – a single-seat and a two-seat model.

"In the coming period, administrative and technical acceptance procedures will be carried out and the aircraft will become part of the training process," the ministry added.

Slovakia signed a contract for 14 US-made F-16 C/D Block 70 fighter jets at the end of 2018, but their delivery was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first aircraft arrived in Slovakia in the summer of last year.
