Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer-SD) did not travel on Wednesday to the European Union and European Political Community summit taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark. The reason is health problems, as confirmed to the media by Alexander Kováč from the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic.
“The Prime Minister excused himself from participation in the informal summit of the European Council and the European Political Community due to worsened health difficulties connected to the assassination attempt,” Kováč stated.
On Wednesday, EU leaders are meeting in Copenhagen to discuss strengthening joint European defense and support for Ukraine. On Thursday (October 2), the seventh summit of the European Political Community will take place, with 47 representatives of states from the European continent invited, according to the Government Office. “Leaders will discuss Ukraine, the security situation in Europe and its reinforcement in the current geopolitical context. The EPC summit will also address migration, hybrid threats, and economic security,” he added.
