At its meeting on Wednesday, the government approved a new strategy to combat money-laundering, terrorist financing, and financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction with a view to 2030.
According to the Interior Ministry, which submitted the document for discussion, its aim is to ensure the effective functioning of the fight against these phenomena.
The document focuses on risk analysis and procedures. "If the strategy is not adopted, the implementation of the conclusions of the third round of the national risk assessment of money laundering and terrorist financing and related measures will not be ensured. The identified threats and vulnerabilities will remain without a systemic response, which may lead to an increased likelihood of abuse of the Slovak Republic's financial system for the purposes of money laundering and terrorist financing," the ministry stated in the document.
