Slovakia Seeks Influence in EU Competitiveness Fund

Slovakia wants an equal voice in shaping the future EU Competitiveness Fund, Economy Minister Denisa Saková (HLAS-SD) said after a meeting of EU ministers in Brussels. She noted the fund could reach around 450 billion euros in the next budget period and stressed that smaller states and their businesses must have fair access without unnecessary bureaucracy, adding that Slovakia does not want to be sidelined by larger countries when the rules for distributing money are set.

Ministers also discussed simplifying the EU single market and the planned 2035 ban on combustion engine cars. Saková urged the European Commission to review the targets, arguing that the shift to electric vehicles must match the investment capacity of carmakers.
