Slovak and Vietnamese Ministers Discuss Cooperation

Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok (HLAS-SD) met in Bratislava with Vietnam’s Minister of Public Security, Luong Tam Quang, on Monday, to strengthen cooperation in fighting crime and to expand economic ties. The talks marked the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Both sides highlighted the role of Slovakia’s 13,000-strong Vietnamese community in deepening bilateral links. The ministers signed a document launching negotiations to broaden their existing agreement, including technical crime investigation and combating drug-related crime. They also underlined the importance of economic cooperation, with Slovakia viewing Asian markets as a major opportunity. The agenda included discussions on labour migration in line with EU rules, as well as Vietnam’s interest in Slovakia’s firefighting and rescue expertise.
