Western States and Slovakia Offer Help for Treatment of Gaza Patients in the West Bank

More than 20 countries, including Slovakia, issued a joint statement calling for the reopening of the medical corridor between the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, and offered financial aid, medical staff, and equipment to treat patients from Gaza in the West Bank. The statement was published late Monday by the Canadian government, according to Reuters and the government’s website.

The countries also called on Israel to lift restrictions on medicines and medical supplies to Gaza, in line with its obligations under international and humanitarian law. Israel was further urged to allow the UN and other humanitarian partners to fully carry out their life-saving work in Gaza, and to respect and protect medical personnel.
