The Constitutional Court has agreed to review a motion by Ombudsman Robert Dobrovodský challenging the constitutionality of a recent amendment to the NGO Act. The motion has been combined with a similar case filed earlier by opposition MPs.
Dobrovodský expressed hope the court will uphold his motion, protecting the right to freedom of association. Although the court accepted the MPs’ motion in May, it did not suspend the amendment’s effect. The opposition party Progresívne Slovensko (PS) argues the amendment threatens democratic principles and human rights.
