Portuguese Secretary of State for European Affairs Ines Domingos visited Bratislava on Monday, where she met with Slovak State Secretary of Foreign and European Affairs Marek Eštok.
Both sides expressed interest in deepening political dialogue within the EU and NATO and explored opportunities for cooperation in areas such as the automotive industry, renewable energy, tourism, and digitalization.
Key topics included the upcoming review of the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034), with a focus on reforming cohesion and agricultural policies, as well as tackling new challenges like migration, defense, and infrastructure.
Discussions also touched on energy security, EU enlargement towards the Western Balkans and Eastern Partnership countries, and Portugal’s strengthened NATO presence in Slovakia, where its contingent recently increased from 26 to 130 troops.
