Slovak Parliament Chair Meets Japanese Counterpart

Slovak House Chair Richard Raši (Hlas-SD) met with Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives, Fukushiro Nukaga, in Tokyo on Thursday. The talks focused on strengthening economic cooperation, attracting investment, and addressing international challenges, including the war in Ukraine.

A key topic was Nippon Steel’s acquisition of U.S. Steel Košice, marking Japan’s first major steel investment in Europe. Nukaga welcomed the investment, noting that U.S. Steel is the largest employer in eastern Slovakia.

Raši and Nukaga also discussed ways to attract further Japanese investment and preparing for President Peter Pellegrini’s upcoming visit to Japan, as well as Slovakia’s participation at Expo 2025 in Osaka.
